By the time Stephen arrived in Birmingham as a young man he was already
preparing for a career as a professional gambler. Setting out as a successful
Backgammon & Blackjack player he supplemented his income by playing Blackjack
against the House.
He was already a competent Poker player when the game of Texas Hold’em reached
the UK in the late 1980s. He quickly saw the opportunities available and set up
a private, invitation only, Poker Club in the Midlands. In 1992 by now a
professional poker player, he was good enough
to win the British no limit Hold'em Championships.
By this time he had gained a reputation, not only as a fine Poker, Blackjack and Backgammon
player, but also for giving new Animal
Nicknames
to players he met in the gambling community.

In the year 2000 Stephen embarked on a further career change and set up
Millennium Casino Games. With his interest and knowledge of gambling and of the
essential working of the different odds for the different games and formats,
Stephen began to invent new games and devise significant variations on existing
